SUMMER CAMP

Ages 4-14

June 9th - July 25th

Half Day and Full Day options

Elite 60/90 Skills Class

Nothing says summer like baseball and Bulldog Baseball's Summer  Camp is the perfect blend of instruction, games, fun, and friends!  Our high energy coaches focus on each player's effort and attitude, and make sure the players know that our goals every day are to get better, have fun, spend time with friends, enjoy being outside, and learn a little as they play.

Camp starts at 9am and typically begins with each age group going through a rotation of drills that are just right for their size and experience.  While the specific skills and techniques practiced are always changing, every age group will have opportunities to practice hitting, throwing, and field.  The groups usually end their morning with game time.  These games are competitive but also frequently stop at teachable moments, and our coaches expertly explain what just happened, how it should be handled in the future, and remind our young ballplayers that making these mistakes is an important part of improving.

Our Full-Day campers go inside every day for an air conditioned lunch, and we also have access to indoor facilities if we need to wait out the inevitable DC summer thunderstorms.

The pattern for the afternoon is similar to the morning with different drills and teams, but the same focus on skill development and teamwork.

On particularly hot days, we make sure that none of our players are out in the sun for more than 15-20 minutes in a row, interspersing drills and games with hose downs, baseball trivia sessions in the shade, and the occasional popsicle.

Our Elite 60/90 Camp is mornings only and designed for rising 7th, 8th, and 9th grade ballplayers who are interested in improving skills in preparation for travel, middle school, or high school baseball on full-sized diamonds.  This program, run by Coach Dan Pfohl incorporates high-level instruction, countless repetitions, and a focus on teaching the finer points to help our oldest campers be the best ballplayers they can be.  While the game time may be less than other groups, a weekly highlight for these kings of the batting cage comes on Thursday or Friday when we create a backstop in short center field, turn the field around, and play a fast paced game with home run fences and a view of the cathedral for our hitters.

Led by Camp Director Dan Thorner, the Bulldog Baseball staff focuses on each player's effort and makes sure that everyone is working on doing everything they can to be the best ballplayer, teammate, and competitor they can be.
